Other Events

The Chapel is available for events such as weddings, baptisms, religious services, prayer vigils, memorial services, remembrance events, military commissioning, departmental commencement ceremonies, initiation and induction ceremonies, holiday programs, concerts, and more. Rates vary for each event.

Initiations

The Chapel is available to registered student organizations for initiations. An approved member of the organization will need to fill out the Student Organizations and Departments – War Memorial Chapel Reservation Form and email it to our office directly from their vt.edu email account, or bring the completed form to our office in the Chapel.

The fee for initiations is $50 and will be billed to the organization after the event takes place. If the group will be using candles, it is required that an open burn permit be submitted to our office no later than 10 business days prior to the event. Our staff can help you with the submission and answer any questions you may have.

Memorial Services

The Chapel is available for memorial services for students, alumni, staff, and the university community. Contact the Chapel to discuss availability or for more information.

Prayer Vigils

Over the years, the Chapel has hosted vigils for Martin Luther King, Jr., AIDS Awareness, and other events. Contact the Chapel to schedule an event or to find out more information.

Organ & Piano Rehearsals

The Chapel is available for organ and piano rehearsals. Contact the Chapel to make an appointment.

Religious Services

Religious services of different faiths and denominations are held in the facility. The Chapel is available to be reserved for prayer groups, bible study groups, and individual meditation throughout the year. The Chapel is available to student organizations and university departments for these types of events, and there is no charge for the reservation. Student organizations and university departments interested in scheduling an event will need to fill out the Student Organizations and Departments – War Memorial Chapel Reservation Form and email it, send it through campus mail (0138), or bring it to our office, located in the Chapel.

Other groups interested in using the Chapel for these purposes should contact our office for more information. A fee is associated with reservations not sponsored by student organizations or university departments.

Commencement Activities/Commissioning Ceremonies

The Chapel is available for graduation and commencement activities, as well as commissioning ceremonies. If you would like to make a reservation, please fill out the Student Organizations and Departments – War Memorial Chapel Reservation Form and email it, send it through campus mail (0138), or bring it to our office, located in the Chapel.

Student Ministries

The Chapel is available for use by student ministry organizations for events such as meetings, services, prayer groups, bible study groups, or praise services. These events may be recurring, and all are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Visit the student organizations list for a complete list of religious organizations at Virginia Tech. An approved member of the organization will need to fill out the Student Organizations and Departments – War Memorial Chapel Reservation Form and email it to our office directly from your vt.edu email account, or bring the completed form to our office, located in the Chapel.
