Martin Luther King/Children's Poster Exhibit

Show runs from: January 17 - February 3
Reception will be held January 17, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Work from winners of the 7th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Poster and Essay Contest will be on display at the Perspective Gallery in Squires Student Center from Jan. 17-Feb. 4.
The exhibit features writing and artwork from New River Valley and Roanoke city and county students ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade. This year's theme is "What Are You Doing for Others?"
The opening reception will be held Tuesday, Jan. 17, from 4-6 p.m. at the gallery. Both the reception and the general exhibit are free and open to the public.
Students submitted essays and posters based on this year's theme, which is a quote from a speech made by King. The contest received more than 600 entries from 26 schools.
The exhibit is part of the university's annual week-long celebration of King's legacy, and serves as a way to join Virginia Tech and the surrounding community in supporting diversity together, said the gallery's Art Programs Coordinator Robin Boucher.
The contest and the exhibit are sponsored by Virginia Tech's Office for Diversity and Inclusion and the Montgomery County-Radford City-Floyd County branch of the NAACP.
